2018 Home Makeover Contest Winner: Tackling a Townhome

For 2018 we selected a family whose master bedroom was bare and empty. Our designer, Stefani, walked the space with contest winner Tauva and her husband to identify their needs. Since this bedroom had 3 walk in closets there wasn't a need for a dresser or a chest. Instead, the family explained that the husband was currently enrolled in classes and needed a quiet place to study.

The large master bedroom in this three story townhome was the perfect opportunity for a quiet work space. Our designer sourced a beautiful Four Hands desk and paired it with a Rowe upholstered chair for beauty and comfort. A tall etagere by Universal was placed on the opposite wall for book storage and fit perfectly between two doorways. Next to the desk the designer highlighted the room's grand size by adding an oversized mirror by Bassett Mirror.

For the bed and nightstands, there had to be a compromise! The winning couple couldn't agree on a light ormedium wood finish so Stefani opted for a collection that incorporates both; Kincaid's Weathersford Collection.

Tauva and her Husband mentioned that they prefer the room to be dark for sleeping so we designed custom blackout lined draperies with a contrast band. A color palette of seafoam, light blues and greys was utilized in the room through the window treatments, upholstered chair and bedding.

With the hefty $10,000 budget for this makeover, our designer team was able to carry over enough funds to spruce up the townhome's living room! An Ashley Queen Bed Sofa Chaise was added to the space and accented with an Urban Evolution accent chair. The lift top cocktail table by Ashley matches the end table and offers guests and the family a place to enjoy snacks in front of the tv! The television now sits atop an Apsenhome console with plenty of space for decorative accents.
